Amtrak Station ADA Improvement

Project Overview

Benchmark Electrical Solutions partnered with Krische Construction to support Amtrak’s ADA Station Improvement Program by delivering comprehensive electrical upgrades to an active passenger rail platform located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The project focused on improving accessibility, safety, and year-round operability through new power distribution, platform lighting, snow-melt systems, and specialty electrical infrastructure. Benchmark crews successfully completed critical ADA electrical upgrades at the Amtrak Granby Station while working adjacent to live rail operations and an active public platform. The scope included new service and distribution equipment, ADA-compliant pedestrian lighting, underground and above-ground conduit systems, snow-melt and heat-trace power, lighting controls, and temporary power, all executed under strict Amtrak and Union Pacific safety requirements. BES crews logged over 3,500 manhours in a harsh mountain climate with zero OSHA recordables and zero rail service disruptions.
