Benchmark Electrical Solutions is seeking an experienced Foreman Electrician with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on electrical experience for a 4-month assignment at a VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a federal government project requiring a high standard of professionalism, safety compliance, and trade knowledge.
Position Overview
For candidates willing to travel, additional project opportunities are available following this assignment, providing the potential for ongoing, long-term work with Benchmark Electrical Solutions. Wage and compensation are specific to this assignment and location, and are subject to change upon reassignment to a new project or location.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct a crew of journeymen and apprentices on a daily basis
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules and milestones
- Serve as primary point of contact between field crew and project management
- Review project drawings, specs, and scope with the PM to ensure accurate execution
- Track material needs, submit requests, and manage job site inventory
- Maintain daily field reports and documentation as required by the project
- Enforce all site safety policies, OSHA standards, and project-specific safety plans
- Conduct toolbox talks and participate in required safety meetings
- Install and maintain electrical systems including control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, and switches
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues using wiring diagrams and technical schematics
- Replace fuses and breakers in high- and low-voltage circuits
- Repair and maintain motors and generators
- Connect and disconnect electrically powered machinery and equipment
- Mentor apprentices by promoting quality workmanship and a safety-first culture
- Perform work effectively across all weather conditions and environments
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on electrical experience in commercial and/or industrial settings (Required)
- Oklahoma Journeyman or Master Electrician License, or valid reciprocating state license (Required)
- Proven experience in a foreman, lead, or crew supervisory role (Required)
- Solid understanding of NEC code; ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Demonstrated ability to manage crew productivity, scheduling, and accountability
- Strong work ethic and safety-first mindset
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Reliable transportation; willingness to travel to project sites
- Dependable, punctual, and professional at all times
- Hospital, healthcare, or federal/government project experience (Strongly Preferred)
- Prior experience on VA or other government-contracted job sites (Strongly Preferred)
- OSHA 30 certification (Strongly Preferred)
- Technical or trade school credential (Strongly Preferred)
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
- Lift and carry up to 60 lbs
- Apply pushing or pulling force over 100 lbs
- Work at heights and in confined spaces
- Outdoor conditions: extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Wear employer-provided PPE at all times
- Occasional overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required
